The beauty of the Gili Islands, West Nusa Tenggara

One very interesting sights are the Gili Islands. Gili Islands consists of three islands of Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air. Gili means island in the language of the Sasak. Gili Gili means island in the Indonesian language.

Why Gili islands can attract tourists?
Many things on offer from the Gili islands to tourists, such as white sandy beaches, warm tropical climate, also the underwater scenery. This is why these islands have become a popular destination for Western tourists looking for a remote island experience.

For divers and snorkelers, the Gili Islands offer a view of tropical coral reefs with a warm inviting waters and attractive coral formations. With more than twenty-five diving spots of the three islands, is certainly of interest to you dive while watching a variety of marine life including a green turtle (Chelonia mydas). You should be able to spot these turtles at depths of 10-20 meter below sea level.

Uniquely, cars and motor vehicle traffic is prohibited on the islands with local regulations, so the preferred method of transportation is by foot and bicycle or horse-drawn carriage called cidomo.

When the weather is sunny, in the east of Gili Islands you can see Mount Rinjani on the island of Lombok and the west side of Mount Agung in Bali. It's really amazing.

How to get Gili Islands?
The Islands can only be reached by sea, and are frequented by a variety of fast boats operating various routes from Bali. Many tourists also travel direct to Gili Trawangan by ferry that leaves Bali daily from Serangan or Padang Bai.

Public Ferries depart from Padang Bai (Southeast Bali) every hour, taking a minimum of 4–5 hours to reach Lembar (Southwest Lombok), after which a taxi can be taken for a 2hr drive to Bangsal harbour where local boats to the Gili Islands await during daylight hours. 

Flights from Ngurah Rai International Airport (IATA: DPS) to Lombok International Airport (IATA: LOP) take about 40 minutes followed by a 2hr taxi ride to Bangsal harbour in Northwest Lombok (Senggigi) and a Local boat to the Gili Islands for a further 20-30mins.
